| ...and the "fight against breast cancer" is continuing |
Avon Walk for Life (WFL)-Sarajevo 2009. and 2010. raised funds for Mammotome, the machine worth 110.000 KM.
The army band led the walk and set the stage for a festive celebration shared not just by walk participants but also from the public who waved and cheered from balconies and shops. Teams from participating embassies such as the US, Netherlands, Malaysia, Canada, Japan, Denmark, Spain, Italy, UK and individual walkers made up the approximately 2000 walkers. Proceeds of the Walk went towards the purchase of one Mammotome Breast Biopsy system that can diagnose complex cyst, multifocal disease, computer-controlled tissue sampling to aid in accurate diagnosis. The waiting time of 3 months has been reduced to one week. Truly, a cause worth pursuing.
On the day of the Walk, the weather in Sarajevo was extremely bad and it looked like that there would not be many people in the Walk.
However, almost 2000 people came to support the cause, despite the bad weather conditions.
The rain did not disturb the bravest walkers to finish the route in the Center of Sarajevo.
Our humanitarian mission is continuing this year with Walk for Life 2011 which will be held on 4th June 2011.
There is no excuse; we wait for you and let's go walk together! |
